Things to do in Galéria: must-see places to visit
Galéria, a small fishing village on the west coast of Haute-Corse, brings together some of the most beautiful landscapes on the Isle of Beauty within just a few kilometres.
Here are our recommendations to help you make the most of your stay, between the sea and the mountains.
GALÉRIA BEACH AND THE MARINA
At the foot of the village, Galéria beach stretches out with its fine sand and sheltered waters, making it ideal for family swimming.

On the doorstep of the Scandola Nature Reserve, a UNESCO-listed natural treasure
Just a short boat ride away, the Scandola Nature Reserve is one of the Mediterranean’s finest gems, with red volcanic cliffs, sea caves, turquoise waters and exceptional biodiversity. If you’re lucky, you may spot dolphins or the osprey, an iconic bird that nests in the reserve.
A major advantage: Galéria is the closest departure port for exploring the reserve by boat.
Staying at Camping A Torra puts you in the perfect position to discover this legendary nature reserve.

The Fango Valley: river, natural pools and freshwater swimming
Head inland to discover the Fango Valley, designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Its crystal-clear river has carved out beautiful natural pools where you can swim, jump from the rocks (sometimes from quite a height) and cool off in the heart of wild Corsica.
It’s the perfect getaway to discover that swimming in Corsica isn’t just about the sea.
AND THERE’S MORE...
Hiking around Galéria
Galéria is an ideal starting point for hiking in Haute-Corse.
The famous Mare e Monti trail connects Galéria to Girolata, following a spectacular wild coastline through the maquis and along secluded coves.
For a more challenging outing, climb Capu Tondu and enjoy exceptional panoramic views over the gulf.
For a family walk, the trails along the river in the Fango Valley are hard to beat, with natural pools along the way where you can cool off.
Girolata, a village accessible by sea or on foot
Nestled in a sheltered bay, the fishing hamlet of Girolata is one of Corsica’s most unspoilt places.
Its special feature is that it is accessible neither by road nor by car. You can get there by boat from Galéria, often as part of an excursion to the Scandola Nature Reserve, or on foot along the Mare e Monti hiking trail.
A timeless escape between turquoise waters and the Corsican maquis.
Calvi and the Balagne region nearby
Around thirty kilometres to the north, Calvi and the Balagne region are well worth a day trip: the Genoese citadel, the long sandy beach, the market and hilltop villages such as Sant’Antonino, Pigna and Calenzana.
It’s a great way to alternate nature-filled days around Galéria with cultural and heritage discoveries along the Balagne coast.
